These appraisals are typically used in connection with IRS Form 8283<\/strong> and are required when the claimed value of the donated property exceeds $5,000.<\/p>\n

What We Do<\/h2>\n

Veritas Appraisal Services delivers written, USPAP-compliant appraisal reports for personal property donations. We specialize in appraisals intended for charitable contribution documentation, and our reports are developed in line with what the IRS defines as a \u201cqualified appraisal\u201d conducted by a \u201cqualified appraiser.\u201d<\/p>\n

We primarily support appraisals for collectible personal property such as sports cards, comic books, original artwork, and pop culture collectibles.

What\u2019s Included in Your Appraisal Report<\/h2>\n

Every appraisal we deliver is written to fully comply with IRS requirements under IRS Regulation and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP).<\/p>\n

Here\u2019s what you can expect to find in every report:<\/p>\n

  • A clear description of the item(s) being appraised<\/li>\n
  • A definition of the type of value being used\u2014usually Fair Market Value<\/li>\n
  • An explanation of why the appraisal was prepared, and who it\u2019s intended for (typically the donor, their tax advisor, and the IRS)<\/li>\n
  • The effective date of value (usually the date of donation), and the date the report was written<\/li>\n
  • A summary of the work we performed and the sources we relied on (such as sales data, market research, or documentation you provide)<\/li>\n
  • A straightforward explanation of how we arrived at the value, including the valuation method used<\/li>\n
  • Notes on any assumptions or limitations (if applicable)<\/li>\n
  • The appraiser\u2019s qualifications<\/li>\n
  • A signed certification statement<\/li>\n
  • And of course, the appraiser\u2019s signature and date<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    If you\u2019re working with a tax advisor, attorney, or nonprofit organization, they\u2019ll have everything they need to include with IRS Form 8283.<\/p>\n
